The Port Chester Fire Department (PCFD) was established in 1823 as Volunteer Companies to protect the lives and properties of the Village then known as the Sawpit. Today, we are a professional combination department whose primary firefighting force is volunteer and we respond to all emergencies in the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook.
The department is commanded by a volunteer Chief and two Assistants. Engine Companies, a Ladder Company and Heavy Rescue make up the balance of the volunteer force of approximately 300 men and women. The career staff consists of 12 paid firefighters that man two engines and two firehouses.
Also, the PCFD is now the sponsor of a Cub Scout Pack that operates at the Kennedy School. In addition to supporting a number of athletic teams in the Village, we look forward to contributing to the success of Scouting in Port Chester.
