Welcome to Port Chester, New York, the best urban village in Westchester County.  Port Chester is well known throughout the region for its many strengths: our charming architecture, cultural diversity, central location and strong transportation access.  Our village is also known as “ the restaurant capital of Westchester” with dozens of great restaurants from around the world.

We have just updated our website to increase government transparency and accessibility for our residents and virtual visitors.  Now you can easily obtain information and forms, submit complaints and comments, and perform searches on meeting agendas, laws and videos.  You can even subscribe to receive upcoming schedules, news and other information.

Port Chester is investing millions of dollars in our downtown and our infrastructure to make significant improvements.  We are also building additional soccer fields and park amenities for our residents to enjoy.  Soon, we will be announcing a special program for qualified residential homeowners to make needed improvements.

We are now preparing for an historic Trustee election to be held next June 15th. We will be the first municipality in New York to use Cumulative Voting to elect our six Trustee seats.  Cumulative Voting is an alternative at-large election system where all voters have the same number of votes, but gain the power to cast more than one vote for the same candidate.  It has been used in American elections since the 19th century.  This proven method will allow any group of like-minded voters to rally behind their preferred candidates and give them a better chance to win.

Our Village is developing a detailed Voter Education Plan that includes many important and landmark elements, including ‘early voting’ to allow citizens to vote during the week before our June 15th election.  We are also planning bi-lingual voter education forums to be held in the months leading up to the June election, and a mock (practice) election.  You will be learning more about this exciting change in the upcoming weeks.

The Port Chester government is committed to making Port Chester a wonderful place to live, work or visit for everyone.  With so many strengths and exciting changes underway, it’s easy to see why Port Chester is Westchester’s best-kept secret.

Best regards,
