  • How do I arrange for fingerprints?
Answer: Fingerprinting is done by our Detectives on Monday and Tuesday nights from 6:00PM-7:00PM depending on the availability of a detective. It is recommended that you call in advance to confirm the availability. Detective Bureau ph # is 939-8419. The cost is $20.00 per card. No cards are obtainable from the Police Dept. You must bring your own cards. We are not permitted to fingerprint persons for U.S. Immigration purposes.

  • How do I obtain a copy of a police or accident report?
Answer: Copies of police or accident reports are obtainable through our Records Office located in the main lobby. The cost of a police or accident report is $1.00 per page. If Records Office is closed at time of request see the Desk Officer for a request form and the report will be obtainable on the next business day. Certain reports are not obtainable such as if the matter is under investigation or incidents where an arrest was made.

  • What hours of the day can I obtain a record or report?
Answer: The hours of operation for obtaining a copy of a report from our Records Office are: 8:30AM – 12:00noon and 1:00PM – 3:30PM. Otherwise fill out report request form obtainable from Desk Officer and leave it with the Desk Officer.

  • How do I get a Letter of Good Conduct?
Answer: Present yourself in person to the Records Office. Bring official photo identification. The fee is $10.00. If making the request by mail you must send a stamped, self-addressed return envelope and a notarized letter and copy of photo identification. Note: a letter of Good Conduct covers only conduct in Port Chester, NY.

  • How do I apply for membership in the Port Chester Auxiliary Police?
Answer: You must live or work in the Village of Port Chester. Be able to pass a background screening investigation among other requirements. Persons interested must make an appointment to meet with Lieut. Jeff Hartrey, Auxiliary Police liaison.

  • How do I report a street light out, malfunctioning parking meter, dead animal in the road way, potholes?
Answer: These are situations addressed by the Village’s Dept. of Public Works. They can be reached at 939-5207

  • To whom do I report missing or damaged Village street signs?
Answer: You may call directly to the Traffic Division. 939-6608. Leave a voice mail if necessary.

  • How do I obtain a Record of Conviction/Disposition?
Answer: These are obtained from the Court Clerk’s Office, not the Police Dept. You must contact them at 939-8220 for a date and time to make the request as these service is not available during criminal court days.

  • How do I find out if school is closed due to a snow event?
Answer: DO NOT CALL THE FRONT DESK. Instead, please tune in to one of  several local radio stations. They are provided with the most current information from the school district.

  • How do I report a lost/stolen/missing driver’s license?
Answer: Go directly to NYS DMV or go on to their website. You may report it and request a replacement directly from the DMV website.

  • How do I get a copy of my driving history?
Answer: For driving history you must go to Dept. of Motor Vehicles.

  • How do I apply for a position as a Police Officer?
Answer: The exam for police officer is administered by the Westchester County Dept. of Human Resources. Port Chester makes appointments uses the resulting eligibility list as provided by County Human resources. County Human Resources can be reached at 995-2114.

  • How do I apply for the position of School Crossing Guard?
Answer: All persons interested in this part time position must contact Sgt. Charles Vaccaro of the Traffic Division. This position is normally a 2 hour per day job and currently pays $17.00 per hour.
