Mission Statement
Port Chester's Building Department, at 222 Grace Church St., is the place to go when you're ready to make an alteration to a building, or construct a new one. Building Inspector Dan Gray and a staff of two are prepared to help you determine whether you will need to receive any special permits for project. Much of the Building Department's work boils down to helping people win approval for projects by making sure plans confirm to government regulations. Projects that commonly require permits include swimming pools, decks and sheds. Staff members are responsible for helping landlords and tenants:
Relocate within the village.
Renovate their building.
Demolish all or part of the building.
Receive certificates of occupancy.
The Village Code establishes size limits under which projects may proceed without a permit.
