PRESS RELEASE

Adopt-A-Street Program

The Port Chester Beautification Commission would like to announce the implementation of the Adopt-A-Street program.  This is a year round program where residents can volunteer to help maintain the cleanliness of a specific street/area.   This also includes an area in which a resident may be physically unable to take care of and would like help maintaining – we’re here to help!

If you think there is a specific street/area that needs special year-round attention and should be considered, please send us an email at beautification@portchesterny.com or call the Village offices and leave a message for the Beautification Commission at 914-939-5202.

Dear All,
The Port Chester Beautification Commission would like to give a HUGE shout of thanks to all who helped and participated in Clean-Up Days on Saturday May 30 for Bush Ave, and on Saturday June 6th for Port Chester.  They were a success!~ We focused our efforts on streets Locust/Orchard/Terrace and Poningo/Bush, the train station and Marina areas.

We would like to especially say thank you to all of the 30 residents/business owners/volunteers that came out on these days, including Village Trustee Gene Ceccarelli, Carver Center led by Ms. Kelly, the Boy Scouts, and the Don Bosco Workers led by Gonzalo; those that donated supplies, including our Village Manager Chris Steers; the organizers, and DPW (especially Mike Barella & Angelo Sposta) for collecting the trash that was cleaned up.  Also, thanks to Jananne at Westmore News for her help, coverage, and subsequent articles on our efforts.

We also started taking names & emails of those wishing to participate in the Adopt-A-Street maintenance program.~ This is a year round program to help keep our Village clean.~ If you’d like to volunteer, or need help keeping your area clean, please send us an email at: beautification@portchesterny.com.

We look forward to working with all of you again (and future volunteers) in helping to make Port Chester a better place!~

Many thanks and have a great day.

Dear Participants,

The Village of Port Chester’s Beautification Commission would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you that participated in our 2nd Annual Essay Contest.

All Port Chester schools were invited to participate and submit their essays by Friday, May 8th.  We had a great turnout.  It is inspiring to read what students think of our Village and his/her vision for what he/she would like to see done to better Port Chester.  All of the essays submitted have been read by the Beautification Commission and have been forwarded to the Mayor and Village Board for review.  After careful consideration, the winners selected for their vision are:  Judith Castillo, Maryn McFadden, Isabella Oberdorster, and Alan Juarez.

The winners, along with their teachers and families, are invited to attend the Village Board meeting on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 7pm sharp at the Village Courtroom to read their essays for Mayor Pilla and the Village Trustees.

The mission of the Port Chester Beautification Commission is to work with the community to take a greater initiative towards improving the aesthetics and the perception of the village.~ The Beautification Commission, through public events, programs and services, will strive to make Port Chester a beautiful, healthy and safe place to live.

Again, bravo to all of the teachers, students, and families that participated in our contest!  Your time, hard work, & effort are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks and have a great day.
